There follows the latest email concerning the jib crane. Even if we get the Clinrud approval, there are still some serious hurdles to be overcome.

Thanks, Bruce. I appreciate the care with which you went over everything. Sorry I could not meet with you this last Saturday -- we were not at the lake.

It is obviously going to be difficult to meet all the requirements for this project. Are you sure we need a variance to install a simple jib crane? I am not giving up, but I am quite discouraged.

James L Grant: Yesterday, I was contacted by Laura and informed that you dropped off some papers for the next BZA hearing. Today, I have had a chance to careful review the papers. First of all, it is suggested that you go to the Clear Lake web cite and look under "forms" and review the rules adopted by the BZA on August 21, 2006. The BZA made the rules. I am merely the messenger. The first 4 requirements have not been met and must be before a variance hearing will be scheduled. The 4 pages of the application that were have been reviewed. You are shown as the applicant, but you are not listed as the owner. If you are acting for the owner, then proper authorization is required to accompany the application. The owner is listed as a corporation. A certified corporate resolution authorizing the filing of the variance request and authorizing you to act on behalf of the corporation is required. This would include authorizing you to sign the application on behalf of the corporation and to represent the corporation at the hearing. Also, a certified copy of the corporate resolution designating who can sign documents on behalf of the corporation is required.

The rules adopted by the BZA require that the property owners touching the subject property be notified. I believe that the Yacht Club property and another property to the Northwest and across the street from the corporate property touches the subject property. These are not listed on page 4 of

the application. Other matters that are missing is as follows:

1. Drawing to scale of proposed project including all elevations and material list.

2. Site plan to scale showing property lines, existing improvements and location of proposed improvement.

3. Certified boundary survey.

4. Copy of property deed or deeds.

Please remember, that 7 copies of these 4 items are required. Additionally, a check payable to the "Town of Clear Lake" must accompany the application and related documents.

I will be at the Town Hall tomorrow, March 29, 2008 from 9AM until noon and will be happy to work with you in making sure that the paper work is in

There follows the latest email from the zoning administrator, Bruce Snyder. I think we have to remain content with what we have -- it is, after all, one of the best sailing facilities in Indiana. We might, however, consider a mobile hoist that could be moved into position when needed.

Jim - Sorry to be such a pain. The zoning ordinance is very clear. No permanent structure can be located in the lake yard. A structure is anything constructed or erected which requires location in or on the ground or is attached to something having a location in or on the ground. The hoist would be attached to something located in the ground and would be permanently attached to a concrete base. The "lake yard" is the yard extending across the full width of the lot between the main building and the lake shore. The lake yard shall have a minimum depth of 30 feet and no structure may be located in the lake yard. Since I wrote to you the other day, I have had a further thought on this matter. I believe that this property is in an "R" district. A hoist would not be a permitted use in an "R" district.

Also, I have had several conversations with the DNR. The local office referred me to a Jerry Price, 765-473-9324 (Peru Office). He informs me that the DNR has jurisdiction over anything install in the ground within 10 feet of the shore line and anything that you extend into or over the public lake. I is suggested that anything you may want to do along this line be submitted to the DNR for either an approval of your plans or a certification that there is no objection to your proposed construction project. It is further suggested that you may want to consider doing this first before you go to the time and expense of submitting your request for a variance to the BZA. Bruce R. YACHT CLUB TGIF NIGHTS

Hi to all who enjoy the Friday night TGIF parties at the Clear Lake Yacht Club. We are thrilled that this event has become so popular and it is wonderful we now enjoy a larger membership. However, we cannot continue to place this responsibility for this fun night on just a few people so we need all of the members to rise to the occasion. We are going to have a host for each evening and they will select a committee to assist them. We will provide them with an information sheet covering previous events, number in attendance, what food was served, quantity of food required, the cost, money collected etc. Peggy who has always mastered kitchen cleanup will also do the cleaning of the dining area following the dinner. Joyce Schavey will continue to be in charge of necessary supplies. These nights can be catered, food can be purchased and brought in, or cooked by your committee or all of the above for the same dinner. DEFINITION OF A HOST: someone to pick a Friday night, select a committee, organize the menu and everyone will have a fun evening. Hog Wild Notice of Race

		The Clear Lake Yacht Club is proud to host the 2008 NCSSA Eastern C and MC Regional Hog Wild Regatta June 7 - 8, 2008

Venue		Clear Lake Yacht Club, 186 Lake Drive Clear Lake, Fremont, IN 46737

Rules		The races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

Entries and Eligibility		This regatta is open to all sailors of C and MC scows. All participants and yachts must comply with the ILYA Rules and class scantlings prior to the preparatory signal of the first scheduled race. This is a Category A event.

First Race		Saturday, June 7, 10:30 AM EDT (New for Indiana)

Registration		Boat registration is $55 ($65 after June 4) Registration fee includes lunches both days for skipper and first crew, beer and chips after races, great sailing, lots of fun and beautiful trophies. MCSA members get a $5 discount if they register online. Register online See who has registered already

Scoring		USSA Appendix A using the Low-Point scoring system with no discards. This changes RRS A2. Five races are scheduled. A minimum of one race constitutes a regatta.

Trophies		Trophies will be awarded to the top five boats in each fleet.

Housing		Let us know on the registration form if you are in need of housing. We have limited housing available.
